DatkOmerS History
The Datkomers crew, established in 2003 was the result of a group of friends who wanted to showcase freestyle dance.The Dance scene was flooded with "dance troupes" that seemed to "clone" dancers. There was no balance between, "dancing to music" and "dancing as artistic expression". Thus the birth of the Datkomers crew. Each member came from different backgrounds both in dance and in life and offers to the collective, a variety of styles and perspectives. The idea of the Datkomers is from "Kuya Norman" the crew consisted of 11 other members who collaborated and created the "style" of the Datkomers. The 11 original members are : Wilfredo"Oniok" Hortilano,Jeffrey"Jepoy" Cantero,John Ryan"Popot" Evanches,Leandro"Onay"Dizon,Rodel"Radul" Cantero,Giovan Mella,Jericho"Jeric" Feliciano ,James "Toge"Durante, Wilmyr"Natoy"Hortilano ,Angelo "Nanuy" Lopez and Alfred Gonzales. Through the course of the last 5 years the members of the Datkomers have shifted in number to a current total of 7 members. The added 2 members are: Ivan Cerapion and Erick Cerapion. Initially, the Datkomers made appearances at local showcases and Mall events in Manila and Rizal. It is the mission of the Datkomers to "inspire the world through music and dance" and to continue to carry the legacy of Dance for the next generation to follow.
